What a wonderful book this is. A beautiful poetic description of growing up in a Cotswold village in the 1920’s before electricity, cars, or radio. When the edge of the valley was the limit of the world and life revolved around farm and church. It deserves its status as a classic of English literature; the writing made me cry in places. I was made to read it in school but it was wasted on me then. Not now though!
